~*~Sweetie Cakes Shop Review~*~

Hi darlings! I'm very happy to present several new reviews today, including one for the lovely Sweetie Cakes Shop on Storenvy. These tights were the first pair I bought on my own, and they were really cheap! When I first went to check them out online, I was worried about the quality because the price was so low. Usually, in order to get quality tights, you have to blow your budget. However, to my pleasant surprise, these tights have lasted quite a while, and I think they are deserving of their own review. So lets get to it, shall we?

Today, I'll be reviewing the  Confetti Party Tights -($9.25) from Sweetie Cakes Shop

These tights are available in two colors- pink and white. The advertised sizes are small, medium, large, and extra large. The sizes are determined by the measurements of the tights' waistband when flat (minimum), and when stretched (maximum). There is no listed measurement for the length of the legs, though there is a disclaimer that the length is all pretty much the same, and since the tights are high in elasticity, they should fit even long legs. The measurements are as follow, formatted as < size: minimum measurement (waist)- maximum measurement (waist)> and all units are in inches. 

small: 15.5- 28

medium: 17-35

large: 18.5- 39

extra large: 19-44

However, the only tights available are the pink version, in small. This was also the case when I ordered my own pair, and it seems like they haven't made a point of restocking. I was hesitant in buying anything in a small, as I really dislike buying something only to find that I do not fit. Last time I bought a pair of tights in a size small, it was a cobalt to rich blue pair of Betsy Johnson leggings, which squeezed my stomach, and one of the ankle holes was sewn too tight, and I have a problem getting them on and off just on that one foot, which is awful because I have problems with my ankle joints. The material was stretchy and silky smooth, and by all means SEEMED durable, but because they were too small, they ripped on my second time wearing them, and now there is  a run on one leg, while the other is too tight along the ankle.
So, please keep in mind. Buying a small in tights is a HUGE gamble when you know you are not a small. All-over prints make this even more hazardous. I'm a skinny girl, I will admit this. But I prefer mediums, as those are what fit me. However, this did not seem to be a problem. After two, maybe three months of wearing these babies and throwing them through the wash, they still make me look and feel super cute. 

The tights in natural lighting, and in gross yellow lighting from old lightbulbs. Not as flattering, but still pretty cool. 

When you look very closely at certain parts of the tights, namely the blue parts, you can see smears of ink, as if the pattern had been smudged right there. These became a little more faded over time, but were especially prominent when I first got them. It's not very noticeable, though, and it's hard to capture in photographs.

Unlike the pair of Siren's Desire from Lunar Kitty Productions, the seams don't 'wrap' very well. It's really obvious where the pattern stops, and the haughtiness of it is a bit boggling, as the shapes are completely cut off. However, it's much better than a blank pink or white seam, which I've heard can happen if you buy cheaper tights. Luckily, the print is SO busy, that the seams aren't distracting when you are wearing them, as the eye travels, and sort of "skips" the seam, which shows excellent design and skill in the artist.

The shipping took a while due to some problems with the store owner's postal service, and it took a long time to get my package. I had to contact the owner to get the problem solved, and she was super helpful. 

Overall

I'm pleased with the service and product, and would highly recommend these tights to a fairy kei on a budget! They are great for OTT or casual, and the quality is amazing considering the price. They aren't super superb though, because you get what you pay for.


I love this shop, and I'm considering buying their other pair of tights as well, and I can't wait to see what they come up with next!!!
